Hotel Room Rates in Lombok and South Bali Rev Up Ahead of Indonesian MotoGP: SiteMinder

Hotels in Lombok and South Bali are experiencing a 19% year-on-year increase in room rates for stays during the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia in Mandalika, according to new data from SiteMinder, the world’s leading hotel distribution and revenue platform. For the period of 2-5 October, which includes check-ins before the race weekend officially begins, the average daily rate (ADR) for a hotel stay in the region has reached Rp3,013,711, up from Rp2,524,821 during the same period in 2024.

The rise in room rates during the Indonesian round of the annual MotoGP World Championship comes as total hotel bookings for the period are up nearly 10% compared to the same dates last year.

Rio Ricaro, SiteMinder’s Country Manager – Indonesia, says: “The rise in ADR in Lombok and South Bali at the start of October is not only a clear sign of growing demand for hotel stays, but also demonstrates how responsive many hotels have been to the increase in bookings. With the Indonesian MotoGP taking place at that time, it’s encouraging to see major events having a greater impact on local hotels and providing a tangible boost to Indonesia’s tourism sector, particularly as the country positions itself as a leading ‘sportainment’ destination in Asia. Properties are therefore called on to sustain, or even enhance, their marketing and pricing strategies by continuing to adapt to shifting market demand in order to maximise their revenue potential.”

While hotel room rates and bookings have risen, data from SiteMinder further reveals that the average length of a hotel stay in the region during the event period has seen a slight decrease, dipping from 2.48 days in 2024 to 2.44 days this year. However, hotel guests have booked their stays further in advance: the average booking lead time, or the number of days between when a reservation is made and the actual check-in, has increased by more than a week, from 132.8 days in 2024 to 147.7 days this year. Compared with the same event period in September of last year, the booking window has extended even further to 18 days.

Ricaro adds: “The excitement surrounding the event is reflected in bookings being made much earlier, giving hotels and accommodation providers more time to communicate and engage with guests, present unique offers aligned with their preferences and promote longer stays with packages that showcase the incredible sights of Lombok and South Bali – all before they even check in.”

The MotoGP World Championship is a prestigious motorcycle road racing series staged across circuits worldwide. The Indonesian round, held annually at the Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit on the island of Lombok, is supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, the Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation, the Mandalika Grand Prix Association and Dorna Sports, the series’ commercial rights holder. The event continues to draw large numbers of international visitors, with more than 120,000 fans attending in 2024. Mandalika is accessible from South Bali, with fast-boat services operating from Sanur and regular flights available from Denpasar.
