Double XP tokens, a Call of Duty staple to help players level up faster, are harder to source than ever in Black Ops 6.

Compared to most games, where there are a variety of in-game ways to unlock tokens, Black Ops 6 mainly relies on external campaigns or giveaways for those all-important accelerated XP gains.

This page explains how to get Double XP tokens in Black Ops 6 at launch, and where to use Double XP tokens when you have some.

Update (Nov. 1): Added details of a Double XP event currently available until Nov. 4, which is a way to get a temporary experience boost without worrying about sourcing and spending tokens. (And no, they don’t stack!)

How to get Double XP tokens in Black Ops 6

Double XP tokens — whether it’s for player levels (XP), weapons (WXP), or battle pass (BXP) — can be sourced in the following ways:

  • Reaching a new Prestige level, such as the first tier (Prestige 1), which rewards a one-hour XP token
  • A “C.O.D.E. Endeavour: Tracer Pack” DLC purchase, which includes two tokens (one hour Double Weapon XP and one hour Double XP)
  • The Monster Energy promotion involving select branded Black Ops 6 cans, which feature special ring pull codes to redeem on the official website; as well as Double XP tokens, you can also claim exclusive weapon blueprints, skins, and decals
  • The Little Caesars promotion for those in the US, Canada, or Mexico, where qualifying purchases (as outlined on the official website) grant Double XP tokens, an exclusive skin, emblem, charm, and calling card
  • Social media promotions, such as the pre-release “vote for me” giveaway on the official Call of Duty X (formerly Twitter) account. Note this giveaway campaign has ended — but it’s worth keeping tabs on this, and other official accounts, for similar giveaways in future.

It’s worth adding Papa Johns also has a branded promotion for three in-game items with a qualifying purchase, but does not reward any XP tokens.

Beyond XP tokens, there are other ways to get a healthy dose of XP boost in-game — such as completing three Daily Challenges each day, targeting Calling Card Challenges, and completing Mastery Badges, as well as anything you’d earn naturally through playing matches on Black Ops 6’s maps.

Finally, each Call of Duty game hosts Double XP weekend event on a semi-regular basis, such as one on-going currently until Nov. 4 with the arrival of the Nuketown map. And no, Double XP tokens do not stack, so save them for once the weekend is over!

You can learn of future Double XP events by following in-game and social media messaging.

To activate a Double XP token in Black Ops 6, go to the multiplayer or Zombies lobby. If you’re using a controller, press L3 by clicking in the left stick (or if using another control method, enter the button prompt that appears in the bottom right corner of the screen) to bring up the Double XP menu.

Here you’ll find all available Double XP tokens, which you can redeem when ready.

Note that all Double XP tokens will count down in real time — so if it says 30 minutes, that will include everything from waiting in lobbies and loading screens to the matches themselves. As such, it’s best to only pop these when you definitely know you’ll get some solid playtime in to maximize your returns. After all, these tokens are harder to get this year than ever!
