It’s possible to level up quickly in Diablo 4 Season 14 and reach the endgame after only a few hours. The secret lies in the right combination of War Plan perks and smashing giant insects coming from hell — which sounds pretty fun.
If you want to get your character to level 70 as quickly as possible and start farming Paragon points, here’s how you can level up fast in Diablo 4 Season 14.
How to level up quickly in Diablo 4 Season 14
I learned this method from the videos published by Wudijo and P4wnyhof, where they thoroughly detail how to speed up the leveling process. Although their tips and explanations are extremely useful, I’ve come to the conclusion that following its core concepts is more than enough to level up quick in Season 14. In my experience, it took me around four hours to reach level 70.
To explain this method, I divided it into two steps. The first focuses on preparing the skills you need, and that takes roughly one hour. The second step is where the grind begins. In this guide, we won’t cover when to reroll characters or maximize War Plans, making it more casual-friendly.
The only prerequisite for using this method is having completed the Lord of Hatred campaign, so you can skip the campaign when creating a character.
Step #1 – Completing War Plans
Your first goal is to level up the Helltide skill tree up to level two as fast as you can by completing War Plans. However, since the list of activities in a War Plan is random, you may end up getting different ones. In this case, prioritize Kurast Undercity activities if only one or none Helltide is part of the list. Here are the skills you must unlock as you level up the skill trees:
- Hellmouth (Helltide – level one)
- Writhe and Rot (Helltide – level two)
- Jade Epiphany (Undercity – level one)
The idea is to later take advantage of the “Writhe and Rot” perk that makes Hellwyrms spew Maggots that drop experience orbs when killed. Since you may end up doing some Undercity runs as well, the “Jade Epiphany” perk makes each one extremely worthwhile by causing experience orbs to appear whenever you gain Attunement level.
In the ideal scenario, you will find two Helltide activities in your first War Plan. However, regardless of how many you have, it’s important that you follow these steps:
- On “Normal” difficulty, collect the number of Aberrant Cinders you need to complete the Helltide activities in your War Plan (75 for each), but do not open a chest yet.
- Once you have all the Cinders you need, return to Temis and change the difficulty level from “Normal” to “Penitent.”
- Return to the Helltide area and open the number of chests required to complete all the Helltide activities in your War Plan. You must be careful not to die before opening a chest, or you will lose half of your Aberrant Cinders.
- Talk to Tyrael. Since you completed the Helltide activity in the Penitent mode, you will receive 43 War Plan points for each one.
You must repeat this process until you reach level two in the Helltide skill tree to unlock the “Writhe and Rot” perk. Even if the Helltide is the second activity in your War Plan, you must follow this method.
When it comes to Undercity, you don’t need to change the difficulty mode. Just focus on unlocking “Jade Epiphany.”
Step #2 – Farming Hellwyrms and Undercity
As soon as you have unlocked the perks listed in the previous step, you can stop doing War Plans and focus only on running Helltides and, if you want, periodically swap to Undercity. There’s no secret about the latter — you just want to enter the Undercity and always get the four Attunement levels to obtain the experience orbs.
Now, when it comes to Helltides, the goal is to farm Hellwyrms and, thankfully, their spawn areas are fixed. To know exactly where you must go to find them, use the Helltides Event Timer, a website that shows where the current Helltide is taking place and the location where you can find Hellwyrms. These creatures do not always spawn in every marked location, but the places they appear in are always the same. The secret is to set a route covering as many areas as possible to increase the chances of one appearing.
Before you start hunting Maggots, there’s some preparation you must go through. First, be sure to change the difficulty to “Hard,” which is more than enough to help you clear the Maggots without risking death. Next, you want to fill about two-thirds of the Helltide bar, so Hellwyrms begin to spawn on the map. They won’t appear before that!
Once you have the Helltide bar where you need it, travel to one of the green circles on the Helltides Event Timer map and check if a Hellwyrm appears. If it does, kill all enemies it spews out, collect the experience orbs they drop, and watch the magic happen. Then, move to the next location. Repeat this process and you will be sure to reach level 70 in two to four hours.
