Located halfway between Calgary and Edmonton, Sylvan Lake is an idyllic four-season destination perfect for getting out of town and enjoying a change of scenery. When the springtime travel bug starts buzzing in your ear, it’s definitely a worthwhile location to check out.

Leisure time outdoors

Sylvan Lake has an abundance of walking paths, which are perfect for daytime strolls. We’re talking over 26 kilometres of trails connected to parks, downtown, and of course, the famous lakefront. Most are stroller-friendly, so the whole family can enjoy some fresh air.

If you prefer to walk with a goal in mind, consider the Sylvan Lake flavour trail. The town has over 20 eateries to choose from for all appetites and budgets, and you might even be able to snag a spot on a patio.

And nothing says spring quite like that first tee-off of the season. Sylvan Lake is home to four golf courses and driving ranges, each with unique challenges and terrain perfect for golf novices and enthusiasts alike. Enjoy the greenery and temperate weather — before you know it, it’ll be summer-level hot out.

When it gets warmer

When that hot weather does come, take to the water to beat the heat. Nothing beats an early morning on Sylvan Lake. The calm waters are perfect for paddling, but you can also sail, pedal-boat, canoe, kayak, and more. You can rent motorized and non-motorized boats at The Launch and Sun Sport Recreation. Nothing says family fun like an afternoon on a pontoon boat.

Back on shore, you can bask in the sun amongst the beachside poplar trees. Don’t forget your sunscreen!

Wherever your springtime adventures end up taking you, consider Sylvan Lake and everything the charming town has to offer.
