The Ritz-Carlton, Turks & Caicos has appointed Hugo Lecanda as general manager.
Lecanda has worked in hospitality for nearly three decades and has held roles with Marriott International, The Ritz-Carlton, JW Marriott and Westin. His career has included assignments in Mexico, Ecuador, Spain and Hungary.
Before taking the role in Turks & Caicos, Lecanda was multi-property general manager for Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa and The Westin Resort & Spa, Puerto Vallarta. He also held an area general manager role supporting additional properties in Puerto Vallarta and Punta Mita, with responsibilities including operational collaboration and guest experience work across the region.
Lecanda previously served as general manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Cancun; The Ritz-Carlton, Abama in Tenerife, Spain; and The Ritz-Carlton, Budapest.
He was named Global General Manager of the Year for The Ritz-Carlton brand in 2015 and European General Manager of the Year in 2017. He also received industry recognition during his leadership in the Caribbean and Latin American region.
