HVS Asset Management has been chosen as the Asset Manager for the new Omni Fort Lauderdale Hotel, set to open in September 2025. The hotel and the final phase of the Broward County Convention Center’s expansion are projected to contribute over $200 million annually to the local economy.
HVS Asset Management has announced an agreement with Broward County. The company will become the Asset Manager for the Omni Fort Lauderdale Hotel, an 801-room property set to open in September 2025. The hotel is strategically located as the headquarters hotel for the Broward County Convention Center.
Neil Flavin, Chief Operating Officer of HVS Asset & Hotel Management, voiced his excitement about the partnership with Omni Hotels & Resorts and Broward County officials. Flavin’s confidence in the experienced team’s operational experience and client-focused service indicates a promising future for the Omni Fort Lauderdale Hotel.
The hotel is designed to reflect Florida’s diverse landscapes and offer a unique experience for its guests. Facilities include 120,000 square feet of meeting space, an outdoor pool deck, retail outlets, state-of-the-art guestrooms, and six dining outlets. Mokara, the brand’s signature spa, will serve as an oasis for guests, providing spa treatments, yoga classes, and exclusive “unplug” packages. The hotel tower will also offer breathtaking views of the Port Everglades cruise terminal.
Tom Hazinski, Managing Director of HVS Convention, Sports & Entertainment, expressed his enthusiasm about the ongoing work with Broward County. Hazinski mentioned plans to help Omni and the Broward County Convention Center achieve their full potential in the convention and meetings industry.
The Broward County Convention Center, known as Florida’s first LEED-Gold-certified convention center, is set to unveil the final phase of its $1.3-billion expansion by late 2025. The expanded facility will include a total of 1.2 million square feet of meeting space, an expansive six-acre outdoor plaza with an onsite restaurant and concert venue, and enhanced water-taxi access.
The new Omni Fort Lauderdale Hotel and the convention center’s expansion are projected to contribute over $200 million annually to the local economy. This boost is expected to come from increased convention business, tourism, and job creation in Broward County.
The economic benefits are already evident, with Fort Lauderdale set to host IPW, the largest international tourism event in the United States, in May 2026. Organized by the U.S. Travel Association, the event is expected to generate a regional economic impact of $14.2+ billion over the next three years, attract 6,000 attendees, create 3,500 jobs, and significantly increase hotel occupancy and tourism revenues by generating over 20,000 room nights.
