A childhood nostalgia I remember all too well is the one that comes from Pillsbury’s cinnamon rolls (and their buttery crescent rolls, while we’re at it.) Sunday mornings at our home meant Pillsbury cinnamon rolls would be on the breakfast menu. When that sweet cinnamon aroma wafted throughout the house, I knew it was a sign the day was going to be a good one.

When a sweet treat gains that much attention at the breakfast table, the only option is to make a gargantuan version of it. Case in point: a giant Pillsbury cinnamon roll. I took a swing at the online recipe on the official Pillsbury website, so make sure to keep scrolling to learn how to perfect it yourself.

What Is the Pillsbury Giant Cinnamon Roll?

The Pillsbury giant cinnamon roll recipe takes one can of the brand’s cinnamon rolls and transforms the individual rolls into one big cinnamon roll. Think of it like a tasty cinnamon roll pie you can slice up and serve in delicious Palovian-response-inducing pieces. Hello, Saturday brunch!

Ingredients for the Pillsbury Giant Cinnamon Roll

All you need is one (5-count) can of refrigerated Pillsbury Grands! Cinnamon Rolls with Original Icing and some ground cinnamon. While not included in the original recipe, I added a 1/2 cup of heavy cream. The heavy cream add moisture and a softness to your cinnamon roll that prevents it from drying out after a few hours.

How I Made the Pillsbury Giant Cinnamon Roll

Open up a can of Pillsbury cinnamon rolls and separate the dough long into 5 rolls. Place one roll in the center of a round cake pan and unroll the remaining 4 rolls into long strips. Coil each strip of dough around the center roll with the cinnamon side facing in. Replace any fallen cinnamon with the ground cinnamon. . Pour heavy cream around the edge of the cinnamon roll. Bake at 350° until the center is fully baked and the edges are nicely golden brown, about 20 to 25 minutes. Let the cinnamon roll cool for 5 minutes. Warmed up packaged icing in the microwave for 15 seconds and spread it all over the top of the cinnamon roll.

What I Thought About the Pillsbury Giant Cinnamon Roll

Yes, yes, yes. The giant Pillsbury cinnamon roll was quintessentially the three things a cinnamon roll should be: gooey, moist and sweet. I found the entire baking process to be incredibly simple with little to no preparation needed. I do think adding the heavy cream was worth it to achieve that underbaked texture, but I would recommend trying it a second time without the heavy cream to see if you prefer it crispier.

Overall, I believe it’s the ideal way to upgrade your mornings while serving big parties. Plating the giant Pillsbury cinnamon roll perfectly warm, right out of the oven will motivate anyone to wake up for breakfast—trust me.
