Napalm Death was formed in 1981 in Birmingham, U.K. What started as a hardcore punk band quickly evolved into grindcore as the band meshed hardcore elements with distorted instrumentation and high-speed tempos. Napalm Death is widely credited with pioneering the grindcore genre in the 1990s.
Between 1987 and 2022, Napalm Death released 16 studio albums, achieving critical acclaim and significant commercial success. The metal band remains highly influential today, maintaining a dedicated fan base and being ranked the seventh-best-selling death metal artist in the U.S. by Nielsen SoundScan in 2003.
Throughout the band’s career they have experienced several line up changes, with none of the founding members remaining in the group. The current lineup consists of vocalist Mark “Barney” Greenway, bassist Shane Embury, drummer Danny Herrera and guitarist John Cooke, all of whom will perform during the 2026 tour.
