Legendary heavy metal band Metallica has teamed up with the iconic English footwear company Dr. Martens for their first-ever creative partnership. The collaboration was announced Thursday morning via instagram, and fans are thrilled to get their hands on a pair.
The collaboration consists of three exclusive pairs of boots, all of which reimagine classic Dr. Martens styles with Metallica graphics and logos. The shoes will be released in two phases, with the first phase commencing Thursday, allowing fans access to two of the three designs.
The first exclusive pair is a Metallica-themed 1461 shoe, while the second is a customization of the classic 1460 boot. Both shoes featured in phase one incorporate graphics from two of Metallica’s iconic 1980s world tours, “Damaged Justice” (1988-1989) and “Damage Inc.” (1986-1987).

The second phase features an all-black smooth 1460 boot with the Metallica logo engraved on the ankle. The laces include a Metallica logo charm as well as the words “5th Member” printed on the aglets—a tribute to the band’s fanbase.
Dr. Martens have been a prominent footwear brand since the 1960s. Recognizable by their unique shape and trademark yellow stitching, the brand’s leather boots have been a staple in alternative rock and punk subcultures for decades.
In the comments of the collaboration announcement, fans shared their excitement.
