Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has entered into an agreement with Ambuja Neotia Group to develop 15 new hotels. This expansion will increase their collaborative portfolio to over 40 hotels. The new developments will be located in the states of West Bengal, Sikkim, and Himachal Pradesh, and will include a mix of greenfield, brownfield, and conversion projects.

The planned hotels will predominantly operate under the Taj brand, with additional properties under the SeleQtions and Tree of Life brands. Specific locations for the new hotels include a Taj resort in Sunderban, Darjeeling, Shimla, and Rabong, SeleQtions hotels in Kolkata and Siliguri, and a Tree of Life in Lataguri. The development will also feature Taj branded villas in Darjeeling, Sikkim, Lataguri, and Raichak.

The projects are expected to be completed over the next five years. The initial phase includes the signing of four hotel operating agreements for a Taj in Darjeeling, a SeleQtions in Kolkata and Siliguri, and a Tree of Life in Lataguri.

This agreement aims to enhance the tourism potential in East and North East India, regions identified for their untapped tourism opportunities. The collaboration between IHCL and Ambuja Neotia Group seeks to leverage the strategic locations to attract both domestic and international travelers.

The expansion follows a previous strategic partnership between the two companies, which included the development of the Tree of Life brand. The new hotels are expected to contribute to the growing demand for luxury accommodations in the region.
