The Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has announced the construction of a new SeleQtions hotel in Mandawa, a town in Rajasthan known for its rich architectural history. The hotel will be located in a haveli, a traditional townhouse or mansion restored to maintain its historic character.

Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President of Real Estate & Development at IHCL, believes the project answers the growing demand for cultural tourism and heritage stays. Mandawa’s architectural legacy makes it an interesting stop for travelers on the Delhi-Jaipur-Agra route. IHCL is partnering with Vijender Singh Shekhawat and Pushpender Singh Shekhawat on this project.

The haveli, initially built in the 1870s, provides a unique insight into Mandawa’s past. It boasts mural paintings from the 1890s featuring religious symbols, floral and geometric patterns, and scenes from the period. The hotel will offer dining facilities, a bar, a rooftop restaurant, a swimming pool, a hammam, a spa, and a gym. The current 17-room hotel will be expanded to 35 rooms.

Vijender Singh Shekhawat and Pushpender Singh Shekhawat expressed their excitement at collaborating with IHCL, appreciating the company’s leisure sector expertise and commitment to preserving heritage properties.

Mandawa, situated in Rajasthan’s Shekhawati region, is famous for its beautifully painted havelis, home to the world’s largest collection of European-inspired frescoes. With this new addition, IHCL will have 28 hotels in Rajasthan, including six under development.
