IHG Hotels & Resorts has reached a milestone of 50 years in Saudi Arabia, commemorating its long-standing presence since the opening of InterContinental Riyadh in 1975. The company has announced plans to expand its operations in the Kingdom further, aligning with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.
As of 2025, IHG has surpassed 100 hotels across Saudi Arabia, either open or in the pipeline. This expansion includes investments in existing properties and the introduction of new brands across various segments. Notable developments include the renovation of the InterContinental Riyadh and the introduction of the InterContinental Red Sea Resort. IHG is also expanding its Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio with brands such as Six Senses, Regent, Kimpton, and Vignette Collection, alongside its premium and lifestyle brands, such as voco and EVEN Hotels.
In 2023, IHG established a dedicated office in Riyadh, marking the first of its kind in the Kingdom by a global hotel group. This office serves as a strategic hub to support IHG’s growth and enhance local engagement. It focuses on partnering with hotel owners, improving operational performance, and collaborating with government and private-sector stakeholders.
The company has emphasized its commitment to supporting Saudi Arabia’s tourism vision, which includes job creation, skills development, and economic diversification. Nearly half of IHG’s workforce in Saudi Arabia comprises Saudi nationals, and initiatives such as ‘Masarona by IHG’ aim to accelerate their progression into leadership roles.
IHG’s plans in Saudi Arabia include expanding its presence in both established and emerging destinations, enhancing guest experiences, and collaborating with stakeholders to foster a sustainable, competitive tourism sector. The company aims to support the Kingdom’s target of attracting 150 million visitors by 2030.
