IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced the inclusion of The Windsor Hotel TOYA Resort & Spa into its Vignette Collection brand. This marks the second property in Japan under IHG’s luxury and lifestyle brand. The move also signifies IHG’s expansion into the Lake Toya region of Hokkaido, a popular destination for domestic and international travelers.
The Windsor Hotel TOYA Resort & Spa, owned by the Meiji Shipping Group, is a well-known landmark featuring 386 rooms. The hotel, which will be renamed “The Windsor Hotel TOYA, Vignette Collection,” is known for its impressive location overlooking Lake Toya and its history dating back to 1993, including hosting the 34th G8 Summit.
In addition to the unique location, guests can look forward to world-class facilities and a commitment to exceptional hospitality that aligns with IHG’s Vignette Collection brand. The brand is recognized for its distinct hotels that offer unique experiences while celebrating local culture.
Abhijay Sandilya, CEO of IHG ANA Hotels Group Japan and Managing Director of IHG Hotels & Resorts Japan & Micronesia, expressed confidence that the partnership would strengthen IHG’s presence in Hokkaido and enhance the reputation of Vignette Collection. The Windsor Hotel TOYA, Vignette Collection, will be the fifth IHG hotel in Hokkaido, following three ANA Crowne Plaza properties and one ANA Holiday Inn hotel. An InterContinental in Sapporo is also planned for 2025.
The Windsor Hotel TOYA, Vignette Collection, is the only hotel in the area to offer guests views of the Pacific Ocean and Lake Toya from a mountaintop location. The hotel features eight conference and meeting rooms, nine food and beverage outlets, a wedding chapel, and various health and recreation facilities. It is expected to attract a diverse range of visitors, with IHG’s global reach and IHG One Rewards loyalty program expected to boost its appeal.
The Windsor Hotel TOYA is the second property in Japan to join the Vignette Collection, following the RIHGA Royal Hotel Osaka. The Vignette Collection currently comprises 13 hotels worldwide, with 34 more in the pipeline.
