Kerry Ranson, a former Chair of the IHG Owners Association, has received the 2024 Kemmons Wilson Service Award. The award was presented at the IHG Americas Investors & Leadership Conference in Las Vegas and recognises Ranson’s significant contributions to the hospitality industry and exemplary leadership.

Ranson has had an illustrious career in hospitality for several decades. He is an alumnus of the University of New Orleans and began his career at Mirage Hotels. He later served as an area director for IHG.

In 2002, Ranson co-founded HP Hotels and guided it to become one of the top management companies in the hospitality industry. He later joined Expotel Hospitality before returning to HP Hotels as CEO.

In 2023, Ranson partnered with Grey Raines and David Tart to acquire HP Hotels through Raines Co., effectively doubling the company’s portfolio and expanding its presence in the Southeast U.S. By 2024, the company had entered a joint venture with Atlantic Hotel Group, increasing its portfolio to over 65 hotels.

Throughout his tenure as Chair of the Association’s Board, Ranson implemented strategic initiatives that strengthened the relationship between the Association and IHG. Even after his tenure, he continued to serve as a Past Chair representative during the pandemic and volunteered on the Hotel Indigo Committee.

John Muehlbauer, CEO of the IHG Owners Association, acknowledged Ranson’s efforts to foster collaboration between the Association and IHG. He stated that Ranson’s vision and dedication have significantly increased the returns on members’ investments in IHG hotels.

Ranson resides in Metairie, Louisiana, with his wife and three daughters. The IHG Owners Association represents the interests of over 5,000 owners of IHG properties worldwide. It advocates for hotel operation standards and wider hospitality industry issues to strengthen members’ returns on their investments.
