IHG Hotels & Resorts has entered into a franchise agreement with SKS Group for the Holiday Inn Express Cockburn, a 170-room hotel set to open in September. The property will be part of a mixed-use development in Cockburn, approximately 26 kilometres from Perth’s central business district. The development is under construction and will include a purpose-built hotel tower and a separate residential tower.
Holiday Inn Express Cockburn will be located near the Australian Marine Complex, a defence, shipbuilding and industrial hub, and the Murdoch Medical Precinct, a centre for health, education and technology. The hotel is intended to serve demand generated by these economic drivers.
This agreement marks the first Holiday Inn Express hotel developed by SKS Group in Australia. SKS Group is an Australian property development and construction company with a portfolio spanning residential, commercial and mixed-use projects in Western Australia and Malaysia.
Holiday Inn Express is IHG’s fastest-growing essential brand, with more than 3,275 hotels open globally and 664 in the pipeline. In the Australasia and Pacific region, 11 Holiday Inn Express hotels are currently open.
