IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed an agreement to open a 119-room Crowne Plaza hotel in Lagos, Nigeria, by early 2028.

IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced the signing of a new Crowne Plaza hotel in Lagos, Nigeria, set to open in the first quarter of 2028. The 119-room hotel will be developed under a franchise agreement with Watercress Hotel International Limited and managed by Valor Hospitality Partners. This development marks a significant step in IHG’s strategy to expand its presence in key African markets.

The Crowne Plaza Lagos Ikeja will be in the Ikeja district, a central area known for its administrative, aviation, and commercial activities. The location provides access to Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Alausa Secretariat, Ikeja City Mall, and various corporate offices and embassies. Cultural sites like the Nike Art Gallery are also nearby, making the hotel suitable for business and leisure travelers.

The hotel will feature Crowne Plaza’s signature offerings, including the Plaza Workspace, designed to facilitate collaboration and informal meetings, and WorkLife Rooms, which aim to balance comfort and functionality for guests.

This new development aligns with IHG’s broader strategy to enhance its African footprint, focusing on cities with strong economic and transportation links. Upon completion, Crowne Plaza Lagos Ikeja will join a network of over 400 Crowne Plaza hotels worldwide.

HeroPlus Hospitality Consulting facilitated the transaction and provided strategic support in brand selection, market feasibility, and operator negotiations.
