IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced a partnership with Gulf Province Properties Limited to open InterContinental Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea, scheduled for late 2028.
IHG Hotels & Resorts has partnered with Gulf Province Properties Limited, a subsidiary of the Gulf Investment Trust Fund, to open InterContinental Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea. The 179-room hotel is scheduled to open in late 2028 as part of a mixed-use development in the capital city’s diplomatic precinct.
The property will be located near the National Parliament House, the Supreme and National Court, key central government agencies, and several foreign embassies. It is positioned to serve visiting dignitaries, business travelers, and international guests.
InterContinental Port Moresby will feature an all-day dining restaurant, a specialty restaurant, a lobby lounge, and a pool bar. The hotel will offer more than 600 square metres of meeting and event space, a Club Lounge, a fitness centre, and an outdoor pool. The wider development will include approximately 6,000 square metres of office space.
InterContinental Port Moresby will join IHG’s existing properties in Papua New Guinea, which include Holiday Inn Port Moresby, Holiday Inn Express Port Moresby, and Crowne Plaza Residences Port Moresby. The addition of InterContinental expands IHG’s portfolio in the country.
The agreement is part of IHG’s ongoing regional and global growth. IHG’s Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio in Australasia and the Pacific includes 16 open InterContinental hotels and two pipeline properties. Globally, the InterContinental brand comprises more than 230 open hotels, with another 100 in development.
