IHG Hotels & Resorts’ Holiday Inn brand has celebrated its 50th anniversary in Greater China by unveiling a new brand evolution. The announcement was made in Shanghai, concluding a year-long series of events commemorating the milestone.

The first Holiday Inn in Greater China, the Holiday Inn Golden Mile Hong Kong, opened in 1975. Since then, the brand has expanded its presence significantly in the region. As part of the anniversary celebrations, Holiday Inn introduced a commemorative brand book featuring stories from guests, employees, and hotel owners. This book will be available in Holiday Inn properties across Greater China.

In addition to the commemorative book, Holiday Inn has launched a new brand proposition, “The Brighter Side of Travel.” This initiative includes updates to product offerings and guest experiences. The brand’s evolution includes new staff uniforms and enhanced service practices, with a focus on a welcoming atmosphere.

The next-generation Holiday Inn design emphasizes “connection,” with redesigned lobby lounges that serve as multi-purpose spaces for dining and social interaction. Guestrooms have also been updated with smart controls, adjustable desks, and family-friendly features, including double vanities and sofa beds. These changes aim to provide a more connected and memorable stay for guests.

Holiday Inn’s presence in Greater China includes more than 250 hotels, with over 100 open and more than 150 in development.
