Ilona Maher Says She's Not Ashamed' After Fans Notice Swimsuit Photo of Herself on Her Phone

Ilona Maher is having a banner year—from winning a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics to placing second on Dancing With the Stars, the Vermont native is hitting major milestones left and right.

One of those milestones happened in September when she modeled for Sports Illustrated Swimsuit, and she carries a constant reminder of it to the delight of her fans.

It all started on Dec. 13 when she posted a video of herself dining outdoors on social media. While the video was ostensibly about the bagel feast in front of her and her excitement for the food, one eagle-eyed fan noticed that Maher’s phone had a very distinct accessory on it.

“I love that Ilona’s phone case and pop socket are Ilona 😂👏,” they wrote, prompting Maher to create a follow-up video.

“A lot of you may have noticed that my Popsocket is a picture of myself and so I thought I’d give you a closer look,” she said while looking into the camera. Maher then held up a custom Popsocket PopWallet+ emblazoned with a photo from her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit shoot.

“Yes, this is me. This is a photo of me from my SI Swim photoshoot and I look amazing. So Popsocket made this for me and I love it,” she said before asking, “is it a little self-absorbed to have this on the back of my phone?”

Maher answered her own question, saying, “maybe. Maybe it is, but when you look this good, it’s good to just keep looking at it.”

“Anyway, I’m not ashamed. I love my Popsocket, keeps everything in there and if I ever lose my phone, people are going to know whose phone it is.” Maher concluded, “yes, it’s a little weird.”

However, her fans disagreed with that statement, rushing to the comments on the video on TikTok and Instagram.

“Respectfully, if I looked that good, I would put a billboard in my hometown and make it my Christmas card,” said one TikTok commenter, and another agreed, writing, “She’s beauty and she’s grace, she’s a perfect iPhone case,” referencing the 2000 hit movie Miss Congeniality.

Maher’s fans continued to compliment her, commenting, “It’s not self absorbed. It’s self aware. You have worked so hard to look like that. But most importantly, you’ve worked so hard to get where you are (in a SI shoot!) in your life. That pic reminds you.”

“if I looked that great I would be absolutely insufferable 😭,” said one fan, and another agreed, writing, “Ilona- we would ALL have pics of ourselves on our phones if we looked THAT GOOD! DANG GIRL! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥.”

Over on Instagram, several fans said they wanted to get the same Popsocket for their own phones, prompting the brand to reply “We’re listening 👂.”
