Indian Hotels Company Acquires Majority Shares in Tree of Life Resorts

The Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has announced its acquisition of the majority shareholding in Tree of Life, an operating company associated with Ambuja Neotia Group. This move signifies IHCL’s foray into the experiential leisure segment.

Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director & CEO of IHCL, shared that this acquisition aligns with IHCL’s growth strategy and an expansion of their existing partnerships. IHCL collaborates with Ambuja Neotia Group for seven hotels and resorts, including notable properties such as the Taj Chia Kutir and Taj Guras Kutir in Darjeeling and Gangtok.

IHCL plans to leverage the growing demand for experiential leisure and aims to scale the Tree of Life brand to 100 properties by 2030. Tree of Life Resorts, known for their tranquil escapes, are currently in over 15 destinations, including Dared, Dehradun, Varanasi, Binsar, Kumaon, and Udaipurwati.

Harshavardhan Neotia, Chairman of Ambuja Neotia Group, expressed his delight in welcoming IHCL to their newest venture. He praised IHCL’s track record in pioneering new destinations and travel segments and showed confidence in their potential to grow the Tree of Life portfolio with their expertise in developing and operating boutique leisure offerings.

The Tree of Life portfolio comprises 19 resorts & hotels with 2 under development.
