Industry minister announces $250 million to upskill workers

Toronto –
Federal Industry Minister François-Philippe Champagne has said the government is launching a $250 million upskilling program aimed at high-growth sectors.
The program will help 15,000 mid-career workers find new jobs in areas such as clean technology, cybersecurity and biomanufacturing, he said.
The Minister spoke at a Canadian Club event in Toronto on Friday afternoon.
The minister said Canada faces a generational opportunity that it needs to seize.
He said Canada’s greatest asset is its talent, which allows the country to attract large-scale investments in its key sectors.
Last week, Ottawa announced the Canadian Innovation Corporation, which aims to help businesses become more innovative and productive.
