Evan Ross on Performing and Keeping Secrets
Ross recently reflected on competing on The Masked Singer season 14. He was revealed as Stingray during the March 18 double elimination. Ross said he really enjoyed stepping into a new creative space.
“I was so sad when it was over,” Ross said. “I loved everybody on that production. You feel like you end up becoming like part of the family. It was great.”
He added that performing anonymously allowed him to experiment in a different way.
“I was excited about the idea that I could do these songs that I loved, and nobody know it’s me,” he said.

Ross also noted that keeping his involvement a secret wasn’t always easy—especially within his own family.
“Obviously, siblings and things like that, I know [they] could tell, it’s not hard, especially with the clues,” he said, adding, “I think Nick Cannon knew from the moment he saw me.”
But he and Simpson were adament about keeping their kids in the dark because they can’t keep a secret.
“We did not tell the kids, because I was very concerned that Jagger and Ziggy would go to school and tell everybody, because I don’t think we have any control over that at some point,” he said.
He was also asked about the rumors that his wife is also competing on the show this season, but he played coy, saying, “Man, I don’t even know. That would be kind of wild if she was on the show. I feel like she doesn’t need good luck. If she’s if she’s doing anything, she’s performing, she’s the best there.”
