Türkiye’s Travel & Tourism industry is projected to contribute a record ₺5.2TN to the nation’s economy in 2025, marking an increase of over ₺200BN from the previous year, as per the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC).

The WTTC’s latest data indicates a significant surge in Türkiye’s Travel & Tourism sector by 2025. The industry is expected to contribute a massive ₺5.2TN to the national economy, equivalent to 12% of the country’s GDP. This projection signifies a more than ₺200BN growth compared to the previous year.

International visitor spending is predicted to reach ₺2.6TN, highlighting Türkiye’s escalating global allure. Meanwhile, domestic visitor spending is anticipated to hit ₺1.4TN, demonstrating the robustness of the nation’s domestic tourism economy and the increasing interest of Turkish people in exploring their own country.

Economic and Employment Impact

In addition to its economic contribution, Travel & Tourism is poised to support 3.3 million jobs across Türkiye in 2025, accounting for over 10% of all national employment. The sector’s growth creates long-term, meaningful opportunities for millions in hospitality, transport, food services, and cultural experiences.

2024 Review and Outlook

In 2024, Türkiye’s Travel & Tourism sector contributed ₺5TN to the Turkish economy, representing nearly 12% of the total GDP. It supported 3.2 million jobs, indicating that one in every ten jobs in the country was tied to this sector.

International visitors spent ₺2.5TN, slightly lower than the preceding year, while domestic travelers added an additional ₺1.3TN, emphasizing the sector’s broad and growing influence. Despite the slight dip in international visitor spending, 2025 is poised to be a record year for Türkiye’s Travel and tourism sector.

Future Projections: A Decade of Promise

Looking ahead, the WTTC’s projections indicate that the sector will sustain its robust growth through to 2035. Travel & Tourism is forecasted to contribute ₺7TN to the economy by 2035, nearly 13% of GDP, and it’s projected to support 3.8 million jobs, creating over half a million new roles over the next decade.

Both international visitor spending and domestic tourism are expected to steadily rise, reaching ₺3.4TN and ₺1.7TN, respectively. These projections demonstrate the potential for Türkiye’s tourism sector to continue contributing significantly to the nation’s economy and employment.
