There’s already enough to think about when you’re headed on holiday – your passport, boarding pass, airport transfer arrangements, travel insurance, hotel confirmation, the list goes on – so wouldn’t it be nice if you could book all the parts of your journey under one reservation?
Well, thanks to a new plane-to-train ticket, you’ll soon be able to. Just one week after we reported the airline alliance had branched out and launched its first non-airline partnership with Eurostar, it seems a collaboration with Trenitalia had been in the works, too.
The two companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to integrate high-speed rail services with air travel, again combining flight and train tickets under one reservation.
SkyTeam member airlines serve cities such as Rome, Milan, Turin, Venice and Florence, which all have Frecciarossa (Trenitalia’s high-speed network) links, and the partnership could offer better connectivity to 150 Italian destinations.
‘We are delighted to join forces with Trenitalia as our second non-airline partner, strengthening SkyTeam’s intermodal travel strategy by offering more high-quality, high-speed rail connections – supporting our mission to future-proof travel,’ said SkyTeam CEO Patrick Roux, according to Globe Trender.
