Jamal Murray on FIBA Men’s World Cup roster

Denver Nuggets point guard Jamal Murray heads the roster of Canada’s expanded senior men’s basketball team.

Canadian Basketball announced its line-up Thursday night ahead of the FIBA ​​Men’s Basketball World Cup.

Murray will be joined by several other NBA players on the Canadian team.

Oklahoma City Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will join Murray in the Canadian backcourt.

Minnesota Timberwolves swingman Nickale Alexander Walker and New York Knicks guard RJ Barrett also made the roster.

The Men’s Basketball World Cup is scheduled from August 25 to September 10.

Group stages will be held in the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia, with the final stage being held in Manila, the capital of the Philippines.

Canada are in Group H and will face France, Lebanon and Latvia in the group stage in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The Canadian men will qualify directly for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris if they finish in the top two teams from the Americas at the 2023 FIBA ​​Men’s Basketball World Cup.
