Jane Fonda is receiving the Lifetime Achievement Awards at the 2025 SAG Awards, and ahead of her big moment, she gave what can only be described as an awkward interview.

Speaking with Lilly Singh, who’s hosting Netflix’s pre-show  along Sasheer Zamata, the legendary 87-year-old actress and activist gave clipped answers and seemed somewhat disinterested — if not a bit annoyed — at times.

The interaction sent viewers into a tizzy.

“Was anyone else EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE … just now?” one viewer commented on X. “It was so awkward and difficult to watch.”

“That Jane Fonda interview was cringey af omg,” another wrote.

Still others expressed concern over the Barbarella actress’s demeanor on the carpet, questioning whether she was “okay” or possibly unwell.

And then there were those who criticized Singh for being too “familiar” with legends such as Fonda. “This is about them not you. Ask the question and then zip it,” one viewer offered.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus will present Fonda with her Lifetime Achievement award later this evening. Hopefully the icon’s acceptance speech will go a little better.
