The Boys is getting the boys back together. Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins will reunite with their former Supernatural co-star Jensen Ackles in the Prime Video series’ fifth and final season.

The news was announced Wednesday on The Boys’ social media channels. “Hey Jared, we’ve got work to do… again,” Ackles says in the video, before throwing to Padalecki and then Collins.

While details on their roles are being kept under wraps, Amazon confirmed to Polygon that Ackles, Padalecki, and Collins will share scenes together. This is a dream come true for Supernatural fans, who have missed seeing the beloved trio on their screens since the long-running WB-turned-CW series ended in 2020 after 15 seasons.

As exciting as this casting news is, we can’t say it’s surprising. The showrunner of The Boys is Eric Kripke, Supernatural’s creator and showrunner for the first five seasons. Kripke cast Ackles as Soldier Boy in season 3, but he’s far from the only SPN vet that’s joined the cast.

Most notably, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Jim Beaver have appeared on the Prime Video series. Here’s hoping The Boys somehow finds a way for Morgan to also share scenes with his former co-stars, though that may be tough-to-impossible given his character is only a hallucination of Butcher’s. But hey, stranger things have happened on this show.
