Jason Ritter is making sure fans know that his wife, Melanie Lynskey, is happily married and their relationship isn’t going anywhere.

It all started over the weekend, after the couple posed for photos together and solo at the 2025 Vanity Fair Oscars party. The Yellowjackets alum looked red-hot, rocking an off-the-shoulder red sequin floor-length gown and matching red lipstick. She styled her hair in classic curls and added even more sparkle with a diamond choker and a pair of statement stud earrings.

Lynskey’s look was a hit amongst social media users, who wasted no time trying to shoot their shot with the 47-year-old actress and even asked her husband of nearly five years if he could “fight.”

“Yes I can fight,” he simply posted to X (formerly Twitter) during the late-night hours of March 3.

“Okay but can you???” another fan joked. “YES,” the actor responded.

To prove it and ultimately thwart any fan attempts to swoon Lynskey, Ritter, 45, set up his camera and began showing off his best mixed martial arts moves in a now-viral video he also uploaded to the social media platform.

“‘You can fight, but can you win?’ he further joked in the caption of Monday’s upload. “Why don’t you be the judge.”

Fans immediately changed the tune they were singing, praising Ritter for his genuine response and sense of humor.

“He has mastered the craft,” one replied in awe. “Just look at his flawless techniques.”

“Oh he LOVES her, loves her,” another wrote.

A third begged him to “Keep this going, please and thanks.”

“[M]elanie [L]ynskey’s husband spending his day fighting lesbians on twitter is the best thing I’ve seen on this app all week,” another joked.

“[I]magine ur [M]elanie [L]ynskey and u have thousands of lesbians asking for ur hand in marriage online and ur husband jason ritter is in the living room doing this to make sure everyone knows he’ll throw down for u…” someone else added in part.

“Guys, we just made him look cooler in the eyes of his wife,” one more joked. “What have we done?”

The couple will celebrate their fifth wedding anniversary later this year, but they’ve been together for much longer. Ritter and Lynskey actually made their red carpet debut as a couple over a decade ago, at the 2014 SXSW premiere of the second film they co-starred in, We’ll Never Have Paris. The two initially met on the set of their first joint project, The Big Ask, in 2013, per People.
