Most people go green by carpooling or incorporating thrifted items into their wardrobe, but Jenna Bush Hager has an unusual way of reducing her carbon footprint.

The Today host revealed her questionable hack for using less plastic that simultaneously baffled and amused co-host Hoda Kotb.

The conversation began when the pair disagreed on the difference between Pyrex and Tupperware, with Kotb proclaiming that “Tupperware is plastic that you give away, and let your kids take to school and you send people home with it.”

The iconic household brand announced this week that it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and will seek court approval to sell the business, but plans to continue to operate in the process.

Kotb pointed out that if people start to give away their Tupperware, and thus buy more to replace it, that would “keep them in business,” but Bush Hager quickly countered that the plan doesn’t work for her lifestyle.

“If you order Chinese food once a week like we sometimes do,” she began, before sharing that she tries “to recycle” the plastic containers the food gets delivered in. But Kotb lost her composure and burst into laughter when Bush Hager then clarified that the recycling portion happens when she tries to give old containers back to the delivery people.

“Wait, pause. You do not give back the Chinese food container!” Kotb proclaimed. Between giggles, she explained that “the delivery guy would look at you like you were crazy.”

Bush Hager then looked straight at the camera and encouraged her audience to “try it.”
