Jenna Ortega may star in one of Netflix’s darkest comedies, but her latest late-night appearance was pure lighthearted fun.

On Late Night with Seth Meyers on Monday night, the Wednesday star couldn’t hide her admiration for one of her co-stars, Fred Armisen, who plays her Uncle Fester in the Netflix series.

Meyers also worked with Armisen for more than a decade during their time as cast members on Saturday Night Live. Meyers was a cast member from 2001 to 2014, while Armisen was on the show from 2002 to 2013. After leaving the sketch comedy show, Armisen went on to lead the 8G Band, the in‑house band for Late Night. However, the band was cut in 2024 due to budget constraints.

During her guest appearance, the late-night talk show host asked Ortega what it was like working with Armisen and if she enjoyed her “Fred Armisen experience.”

“I loved my Fred Armisen experience…He has no idea how obsessed with him I am,” she admitted. “I’ve definitely had it where he’s been in the other room and I’m quoting his lines and things like that.”

Armisen has also spoken very highly of the 22-year-old actress. The SNL alum spoke to PEOPLE last Wednesday at the show’s Season 2, Part One world premiere in London, and gushed about how Ortega inspired the 58-year-old comedian to be more “meticulous” and “pay attention” to little details while working.

“It’s great watching Jenna, because she keeps track of the script in this way that she understands the logic of her character,” he explained. “It’s not like she just shows up and it’s like, ‘I’m just gonna do this character.’ She’s like, ‘Why does this moment count?’ So she’s very meticulous, and it makes me want to be more like her.”

In the second season, Wednesday Addams (Ortega) will return to Nevermore Academy for her sophomore year, where she will face new threats, complicated relationships and a darker, more supernatural mystery.

Most of the main cast members returned for the second season, except Percy Hynes White, Jamie McShane and Naomi J. Ogawa. But, several new stars are joining the cast, including Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter and Noah Taylor as series regulars. Meanwhile, Lady Gaga, Joanna Lumley, Christopher Lloyd, Thandiwe Newton, Haley Joel Osment, Heather Matarazzo and Joonas Suotamo will appear as guest stars.

Part 1 of the second season of Wednesday will be released on Wednesday on Netflix, while the second part will follow on Sept 3.

Late Night with Seth Meyers airs weeknights on NBC at 12:35 AM ET.
