Jessica Alba broke her silence on ongoing reports that she and her husband Cash Warren, whom she married in 2008, were getting a divorce.

The Trigger Warning actress shared a statement to Instagram on Jan. 16, only a day after People reported that Alba had retained a divorce lawyer.

Alba began by saying, “I’ve been on a journey of self realization and transformation for years—both as an individual and in partnership with Cash. I’m proud of how we’ve grown as a couple and in our marriage over the last 20 years and it’s now time for us to embark on a new chapter of growth and evolution as individuals.”

“We are moving forward with love and kindness and respect for each other and will forever be family,” she continued. “Our children remain our highest priority and we request privacy at this time.”

While Alba didn’t explicitly mention divorce, the statement appeared to confirm the couple’s split. Warren has not posted anything about the rumored divorce on his social media.

Alba and Warren first met on the set of Fantastic Four in 2004. The actress starred as Sue Storm in the film and Warren was a director’s assistant. They appeared to quickly hit it off, dating for a few years before tying the knot in 2008.

The two welcomed their first child, a daughter named Honor, under a month after their wedding. Their second daughter Haven was born in August 2011, while their youngest, a boy named Hayes, arrived in December 2017.

Alba and her family appeared as close-knit as ever only two weeks ago when she shared photos from an outing at Universal Studios to celebrate Hayes’ seventh birthday. They also spent Christmas together, with Alba posting a sweet family holiday photo at the end of December.
