This month, County Roads Theatre Company will present The Year of Magical Thinking, a solo show based on Joan Didion’s memoir of the same name.
Directed and performed by Joan McBride in Prince Edward County, The Year of Magical Thinking explores themes of love, loss, grief, and resilience as it follows Didion through the loss of her husband and daughter. Didion adapted the memoir for the stage herself, helping to ensure the language and depth of the original were preserved in the migration from page to stage.
“We are thrilled to have Joan McBride return to Mount Tabor Playhouse for this production,” said assistant director Melissa Paulson in a press release. “Her ability to convey complex emotions with subtlety and grace makes her the perfect choice for this role. Audiences are in for a truly special experience.”
The Year of Magical Thinking will play Mount Tabor Playhouse from September 26 until October 6. Tickets are available on the County Roads Theatre Company website.
