The Opportunity
Keyano College is actively seeking a Stage Manager for our upcoming community production of The Wizard of Oz. This position is key to the safe and well organized operation of this Keyano Theatre musical. Reporting to the Production Manager, the Stage Manager will provide the duties typically found in a professional stage manager engagement including; scheduling, running rehearsals, communication and supervision of cast and crew among others.

Note: This is not a remote or hybrid work opportunity, you will be required to work on campus and be available in Fort McMurray, AB.

Keyano Theatre has been providing great entertainment options for nearly 45 years. As “the best live performance venue” Keyano Theatre hosts a wide variety of professional and amateur artists for the benefit of the Fort McMurray community. With over 100 public events last year we have a lot of things going on! Our community musical is a mix of volunteer actors and stage crew with professional technicians, directors and designers. Both union and non-union stage managers are welcome to apply.

Duties & Responsibilities
• Shall be responsible for the calling of and attending all rehearsals, whether before or after opening. Will assist in the creation of a rehearsal schedule with a focus on managing time conflicts.
• Shall be the primary communicator to the actors and crew regarding schedules, notes and other messages that must be passed. They will keep an updated contact list for this purpose.
• Shall assemble and maintain the Prompt Book, which is defined as the accurate playing text and stage business, together with such cue sheets, plots, daily records, etc., as are necessary for the actual technical and artistic operation of the production.
• Shall prepare the rehearsal spaces as required including: floor marking, request/acquire props and costumes as needed, allow for audio and lighting as needed.
• Shall work with the Director and the heads of all other departments, during rehearsal and after opening, to relay information regarding the production with intent to provide support to all facets of the production.
• Shall provide practical and organizational support to the Production Manager and Technical Director, Director, participants, designers, stage crew and technicians throughout the production process
• Keep such records as are necessary to advise the College on matters of attendance, meetings, changes to blocking/props/costumes/set/lighting elements and other factors that may come out of rehearsal or performance
• Assume active responsibility for the form and discipline of rehearsal and performance and be the executive instrument on the technical running of each performance.
• Guide and mentor community Assistant Stage Managers as needed through their roles and responsibilities throughout the production process.
• Maintain the artistic intentions of the Director and the Producer after opening, to the best of their ability, including calling correctional rehearsals of the company when necessary.
• Shall be supportive of and sensitive to the Theatre’s interests and respect the physical property of the Theatre and the production, and abide by the artistic policies of the Theatre during the term of this contract.

Qualifications
· Experience and/or education in stage management
· Strong organizational skills
· Ability to work in Microsoft Office and SharePoint environments.
· Ability to read music and maintain a sense of rhythm
· Good interpersonal skills and conflict management
· Creativity and problem solving
Compensation and Benefits
· $8000-$12000 based on experience and qualifications
· Travel allowance up to $500
· Accommodation provided

• February 15, 19, 20, 21 Performances
• February 22, 2025 (matinee and evening) Closing day
• Regular rehearsal schedule is
• Sunday 10am-6pm
• Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday from 6pm-10pm
• Higher frequency from Feb 1-14 – full schedule available upon request
