The staff at a Toronto restaurant were Burnin’ Up this week when they had a surprise visit from the Jonas Brothers.
They might be self-described Suckers, but their taste in Toronto restaurants just goes to show they’re anything but.
If you want to go star-hunting in Toronto at any time of year, Yorkville is about as good a chance as any (save for maybe Pai) to see your favourite celebs, and Joe, Kevin and Nick themselves have proven that hypothesis correct, as they swung by Michelin-recommended Adrak Yorkville on Jan. 7 to tuck into a meal of downright delectable Indian fare.
With no Toronto concerts on the docket for the foreseeable future and no particularly strong ties to the city (though, I would be remiss not to mention, much of Camp Rock was filmed at Ontario camps Kilcoo and Wanakita), the visit was all the more of a surprise for staff at the restaurant.
A representative for co-founder Ambica Jain tells blogTO that the surprise was the “best way to start the year” and that it was “so amazing” to have a visit from Joe, Kevin and Nick.
Among the dishes the boys devoured were Adrak’s royal pista lamb chop, prawn tandoori and chai biscuit, and a representative from the restaurant tells blogTO that the chai biscuit was the resounding favourite among the group.
“All of the brothers said the food was amazing,” the representative says.
Sufficiently stuffed with their Michelin-approved meals, the boys even posed for a photo with Ambica, a self-described “O.G. Jonas Brothers fan,” for good measure.
The details on why, exactly, the iconic band of brothers are spending time in the 6ix are fuzzy as of the time of publication, but given social media posts, like a photo of directors chairs emblazoned with each of the brothers’ names on Nick’s Instagram story or a video filmed inside a film trailer shared by Joe, it’s safe to assume they’re filming in the city.
Some sources have suggested that the Jonas Brothers are working on a holiday special set to air next December on Disney+, which could quite possibly be the top-secret Toronto project in question, but the details are being kept strictly under wraps for now.
Having spent considerable time in and around the city during their nearly 20-year tenure in the spotlight, the boys have also shared their affinity for various Indian restaurants (Adrak, of course, included), Fresh and Toronto’s friendly residents in the past.
Toronto loves you, too, Jo-Bros!
