Clarkson, 43, was reflecting on her interview with Brinkley while chatting with another guest, E.A. Hanks, daughter to Tom Hanks, who said during their conversation, “Every American woman loves to follow Christie Brinkley.”
“Yes!” the “Breakaway” singer agreed, before sarcastically confessing, “By the way, you don’t feel inferior at all sitting out here with her.”
“It’s like following Shakira on a red carpet,” Clarkson added of interviewing Brinkley, who consistently amazes fans over her apparent ability to defy age.
Brinkley appeared on Tuesday’s episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show to talk about her highly-anticipated new book, Uptown Girl: A Memoir, which hit bookshelves the same day the episode aired.
Brinkley, who was married to “Uptown Girl” singer Billy Joel for nearly ten years, shares bombshells about their relationship in her pages, including his issues with alcohol.
While chatting with Clarkson, Brinkley recounted the real-life story behind the “Uptown Girl,” and how she was discovered when she was a “struggling artist” living in Paris.
She delves deeper into the story and several other topics in the brand-new book, which is officially out now.
