Kimpton, a part of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ luxury portfolio, has opened its first resort in Portugal, the Kimpton Atlântico Algarve. Located on Sâo Rafael Beach, the resort combines Kimpton’s signature design-led aesthetic with the relaxed atmosphere of southern Portugal.
The resort offers 149 rooms and suites, designed with inspiration from the Mediterranean landscape and tranquil coastal life. Portuguese designer Nini Andrade Silva contributed to the resort’s aesthetic, and LUCID Development Group managed the project. The interiors feature natural textures, stone surfaces, airy linens, handcrafted ceramics, and timber accents.
Catarina Simões, General Manager of Kimpton Atlântico Algarve, stated that the resort aims to provide a unique experience that invigorates guests with its design, vibrant flavors, and immersive moments.
The resort offers various dining options, including Terra, a bar, café, and market that utilizes locally sourced ingredients; Sombra, a garden oasis offering fresh local seafood; Marés, a relaxed beachfront restaurant serving market-fresh produce; and Zénite, a rooftop bar with a selection of classic cocktails and local wines.
The Kimpton Atlântico Algarve also houses a 1,800 sqm Wellness Hub equipped with a heated indoor pool, spa circuit, flotation tank, jacuzzi, sauna, Turkish baths, and a modern gym. The facility offers personalized massages and therapy sessions to promote holistic wellness.
In alignment with Kimpton’s pet-friendly policy, the Atlântico Algarve welcomes pets at no additional cost. The resort also offers a “Forgot It? We’ve Got It!” program, providing guests with a selection of essential items free of charge. The resort also hosts Kimpton’s evening Social Hour, a community-focused event that invites guests to connect over complimentary drinks.
Kimpton Atlântico Algarve is the latest addition to IHG’s expanding portfolio of luxury lifestyle hotels in Europe, which includes Kimpton Fitzroy London, Kimpton Los Monteros Marbella, and Kimpton Main Frankfurt.
