Ontario Premier Doug Ford announced this morning that the LCBO will no longer sell any American-made products and that all wine, beer, spirits, seltzers and other U.S. beverages will be removed from store shelves on Tuesday, Feb. 4th.

The news comes in the wake of the retaliatory tariffs Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced on Saturday night in response to the 25 per cent tariffs U.S. President Donald Trump plans to impose on almost all Canadian products.

Ford also appeared on CNN yesterday criticizing the tariffs and explaining how they would hurt American consumers.

The new LCBO policy was revealed via a tweet from Ford on Sunday. Ford stated that the American products will also not be available for wholesale purchases, meaning bars, restaurants and other wholesale customers will no longer be able to legally purchase the products in the province.

American products available at the LCBO include notable wine brands like Robert Mondavi, Sam Adams beer and spirits such as Jack Daniel’s and Tito’s Handmade Vodka.
