Robby Krieger has some big birthday plans coming up for next year.
It was announced on Friday, Dec. 19 that the famed guitarist of The Doors will mark his upcoming 80th birthday with a “special performance” at the place where it all began for the beloved ’60s rock band.

Krieger, who will officially turn 80 on Jan. 8, 2026, will be celebrating the major milestone all year long as he gears up for a special performance at The Whiskey a Go Go in Hollywood, Calif., nearly 60 years after The Doors served as the house band for the iconic venue.
According to the announcement posted on The Doors official Instagram page on Friday, the highly-anticipated performance will take place on Saturday, March 28 at the historic Sunset Boulevard nightclub “where so much Doors history was made.”

The Doors, featuring frontman Jim Morrison, as well as Krieger, Ray Manzarek and John Densmore, served as the house band at The Whiskey a Go Go for several months in 1966. It was there that the legendary band cultivated the experimental psychedelic rock sound that would lead to a record deal in November of that year.

Not only will Krieger be returning to his roots with the upcoming performance, but the musician also has some “surprise guests” up his sleeve to make the celebration even more special. Plus, Pablo Manzarek, the son of the original Doors keys player, will also be taking the stage at Krieger’s show as the opening act, along with his band, Tripform.
