Rod Stewart hit the stage at the 2025 American Music Awards for the first time in over two decades with a riveting display that left fans wondering how he’s still performing at such a high level at 80 years old.

At the event, held on Monday, May 26 at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas, the legendary rocker’s children introduced him before he put on a show that captivated audiences both in person and online. The awards show, hosted by Jennifer Lopez, celebrated Stewart’s illustrious career by presenting him with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

For his set, the iconic music star opened with the timeless “Maggie May,” before transitioning into “Forever Young,” a track that fans on social media couldn’t help but draw inspiration from when describing his showmanship even after all these years.

While walking the red carpet for the high-profile function, the “Tonight’s the Night (Gonna Be Alright)” singer struck a pose while donning a fashionable and flashy ensemble. For the big evening, Stewart chose a shimmery black suit with swirl-print throughout, worn with a white silk shirt and skinny black tie. He accessorized with glitzy diamond bracelets, rings, and a watch, along with matching bejeweled velvet pointed-toe loafers.

This year’s show included a star-studded lineup of performances, including Gwen StefaniLainey WilsonBenson Boone, and more. Gloria Estefan even made a return to the AMAs stage after 30 years.
