‘Let’s Dance! The Musical’ coming to Toronto

Terra Blues Productions, a musical theater company led by founding members of folk-rock band The Great Big Sea, will enter the Toronto theater scene this year with two original shows.

Let’s dance!musicalis a jukebox production set to early 1960s music, and will follow performances in St. John’s, New Jersey and Halifax in August at the Elgin and Winter Garden Theatres.

Meanwhile, ‘The Wild Rovers’ are set to debut in Toronto in October.

The piece tells a whimsical story inspired by the Irish Rovers, a group of musicians who started out in Toronto in the 60s.

Bob Hallett, the company’s chief operating officer and co-founder of multi-instrumentalist Great Big Sea, said Terra Blues plans to establish more permanent roots in Toronto.

The company has purchased the Regent Theater in Toronto and the Majestic Theater in downtown St. John’s, New Jersey, and renovations are underway.

The Great Big Sea had several radio hits in the 90s, including “When I’m Up (I Can’t Get Down)” and “Ordinary Day.”
