Leylah Fernandez looses to Russia Mirra Andreeva: Madrid Open

Canada’s Leila Fernandez lost to 15-year-old Mira Andreeva 6-3, 6-4 in the first round of the Madrid Open on Wednesday.
It took the 194th-ranked Russian teenager just 1 hour and 16 minutes to beat the 49th-ranked Fernandez.
Fernandez made only 59.6% of his first serves compared to Andreeva’s 70.1%.
The 20-year-old had just one of six break-point chances, but Andreeva stole three of Fernandes’ serves in five.
Andreeva will face Beatriz Haddad Maia of Brazil, the 13th seed in the tournament, in the second round.
Montreal’s Eugenie Bouchard, who beat America’s Elizabeth Mandrick in Tuesday’s qualifying round, was scheduled to face Ukraine’s Dayana Yastremska in Wednesday’s opening round match.
