The Liberals are projected to win Canada’s 2025 federal election.

That means Mark Carney is expected to be the next Prime Minister of Canada.

CBC News, Global News, and the Toronto Star have projected a Liberal win in Canada’s 2025 federal election.

While other outlets have said it’s too close to call a minority or majority as of 11 p.m. ET on election night, CTV News has projected a Liberal minority government.

With Canada’s electoral system, there are 343 seats available in Parliament, and a party needs 172 seats to form a majority government.

If there is a minority government, the Liberals will have to depend on support from other parties to govern.

But if the Liberal party can get to the 172-seat threshold and form a majority government, Carney and the Liberals will have a simpler path to governing.

Not only are the Liberals set to form government, but Carney is also expected to win the Nepean riding.

As of 11 p.m. ET on election night, it’s too early to call whether Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre will win in his Carleton riding.

It’s also too close to call in the ridings of other party leaders, including NDP leader Jagmeet Singh (Burnaby Central) and Green Party co-leaders Elizabeth May (Saanich Gulf Islands) and Jonathan Pedneault (Outremont).

Bloc leader Yves-François Blanchet is expected to win in his riding of Beloeil-Chambly.

Ballots are still being counted and verified by Elections Canada, with official results expected later this week.
