Lily Collins Says Goodbye to ‘Emily in Paris’ After 6 Seasons With Emotional Message and Fans are Not Okay

It’s officially au revoir for Lily Collins and Emily Cooper.

After six seasons, Collins marked her final day filming Emily in Paris with an emotional goodbye to the character she’s played since the Netflix series debuted in 2020.

My last day on set as Emily…” Collins began her Instagram post on Friday, September 18, which showed her sitting in a director’s chair with the word “Fin” on it. “I’m speechless. It’s impossible to find the words for what this journey has meant to me. For so many years, Emily has been a part of my life, and through every season, she’s continued to surprise me, inspire me, and challenge me.”

Collins went on to thank series creator Darren Star for trusting her with the “endlessly optimistic American girl in Paris,” before recognizing the writers, directors, crew and cast who helped create Emily’s world. “You have made Emily, Emily. You made this world feel like home,” she wrote.

The actress also had a special message for the viewers who have followed her journey since Emily in Paris first arrived on Netflix in 2020. “And merci to all of you who have been supporting us over these past 7 years and 6 seasons, keeping us inspired to dream bigger along our epic adventure,” she continued.

Fans were emotional about the end of an era.

“The fact that we’re actually heading into the final season feels WRONG. Like excuse me?? Emily has approximately 700 more questionable life decisions left in her. 😭💔,” one person wrote.

“This makes me more sad than it should,” said another.

A third commented, “That’s so bittersweet!! 🥹💖 I can’t wait to see the rest of Emily’s story (although selfishly, I wish it would continue forever because we need more girly comfort shows 😂).”

Collins has portrayed the fashionable marketing executive since the series’ debut in 2020, with the show taking Emily (and viewers) from Paris to destinations including Rome and Venice over the years.

“I will carry this chapter with me forever,” Collins continued. “Saying goodbye feels completely surreal and bittersweet, but mostly, I feel so incredibly proud and grateful that I got to be her. And be part of something so joyful.”

She then summed up the impact of the past seven years in just five words: “This has forever changed me.”
