Although Inter Miami CF superstar Lionel Messi has arrived in Toronto, soccer fans across the city are still wondering whether they’ll get a chance to see Messi play in this Saturday’s match between Toronto FC and Miami at BMO Field. For the first time in the club’s history, Inter Miami CF won the Supporters’ Shield by beating the Columbus Crew on Wednesday (with a final score of 2-3).

Inter Miami is now the top-seeded team in the Eastern Conference as they enter the Audi 2024 MLS Cup Playoffs, meaning the team will have home-field advantage! As previous reports have noted, the next remaining two regular season games, including Saturday’s game in Toronto, won’t affect their position in the playoffs, so there’s a possibility that the team will rest Messi, especially before the World Cup qualifiers in Argentina.

Perhaps one indicator that Messi will play is the cost of tickets — they’re pricey, ranging from $200 to $12,000+.

“All signs are pointing towards Lionel Messi playing, but yet to be confirmed,” one X user pointed out, alongside a screenshot of the expensive ticket prices.

As for Toronto FC, their playoff hopes aren’t looking too good. The team lost 4-1 to the New York Red Bulls at BMO Field on Wednesday night, with three goals scored from the penalty spot. TFC’s final match of the regular season is against Miami on Saturday, so with a win against them, the team will have a chance to secure a spot in the playoffs.

Toronto FC will play Inter Miami CF at BMO Field at 4 p.m.
