Inside the box, you’ll find the steering wheel, pedal unit, power adapter and setup guide, all neatly organized. Setting up the wheel is a little more straightforward as it has a tool-less design. There are two large knobs on the top of the steering wheel unit you can tighten and loosen to raise and lower the mounting clamps. I opted to mount the wheel and pedals to my sim racing stand, thanks to the G920’s clasping system, which is easy to work with. Without a racing stand, the wheel can also be mounted to most desks and tabletops.

Cable management and access to ports

Cable management is an area where the G920 needs more attention. The setup involves quite a few connections: the wheelbase to a power outlet, pedals to the wheel, and the wheel to your Xbox console or PC. All of this will add quite a few wires around your setup. It is necessary to keep the design modular so it can adapt more easily to different setups, but it still has a lot of cables.

Logitech has included a “cable tidy” under the wheelbase, where you can wrap up some of the extra cable slack, but it only does so much. If you have limited space or are looking for a cleaner look, you should plan ahead and pick up cable zip ties or consider other wire management solutions. That said, the cables never got in the way of my racing, but it’s worth pointing out from an aesthetical standpoint.

Making all the connections

Once I had the wires sorted, connecting the pedal unit to the wheelbase was simple, with the cable fitting snugly into the designated port under the middle of the unit. One aspect of the wheel’s design that does have the potential to create issues is where the cables are housed. Once mounted to a surface, the area with the power connection and pedal connection is no longer accessible. So, if a cable becomes loose or you need to add an accessory like a stick shift, you must unmount the wheel.

Outside of that, the setup took some time but was easy to follow. I was off to the races after plugging in the power adapter and connecting the wheel to my Xbox via USB. I launched Forza Motorsport, and after self-calibrating, the wheel immediately spun to life. And I was ready to play.

There are also easy-to-access game controls right on the face of the wheel. You’ll find a fully functional D-Pad that offers easier access to in-game menus. There are also Xbox console buttons, making navigating between races much more manageable.

High-performing G920 pedal set

The pedal set feels excellent, with strong, sturdy construction that helps handle those intense moments on the track. The unit includes a clutch, throttle, and brake. Each made of stainless steel, the pedals feel nice and stiff while being very responsive to my every move. The progressive resistance brake pedal mimics hydraulic braking systems, though its stiffness may require some adjustment. However, this will vary from player to player, depending on preferences.

The unit’s base is an industrial plastic that held up to all my testing. It’s grippy and stable, especially on carpets and even on my hardwood floor. Most of my testing was done on a sturdy racing rig, where I bolted it to the base to optimize performance.

Overall, I was impressed by the on-track performance of the G920 wheel and pedals. The force feedback provided a realistic driving sensation, and the pedal responsiveness added to the immersion. Navigating tight corners and accelerating down straightaways felt more authentic and more rewarding than ever before. Overtaking another car on a straightaway or hitting the apex on corners felt great.

The wheel picked up all my most subtle movements, the force feedback ensured I could feel the road beneath me. The wheel provides the same degree of motion as an actual car with two and a half turns. The brake pedal system, while realistic, is its initial stiffness, which can hinder quick adjustments during competitive races.
