This new Lotto 6/49 winner from Toronto scored $60 million with a ticket he bought online.
He almost didn’t believe he won the jackpot because he thought the phone call from OLG was a scam!
OLG just announced that Bocheng Mei of Toronto won the $60 million Lotto 6/49 Gold Ball Jackpot from the draw on May 7, 2025.
For this Gold Ball Jackpot, the Lotto 6/49 winning number was 53689493-01.
About a year and a half ago, the 26-year-old decided to make an online account with OLG so he could buy his Lotto 6/49 tickets online instead of having to go to a store.
Mei also opted for the “Never Miss A Draw” subscription, which means his tickets are automatically bought for every upcoming draw.
“I do most stuff online, so I picked my own numbers, added Encore, and never had to think about it again because I knew my tickets would be purchased automatically,” Mei said.
Then, recently, Mei answered his phone when a call from an unknown number appeared.
It turned out to be a call from OLG because he missed the online notification about his prize win.
“I answered the call, and the person said they were from OLG,” Mei said. “I started googling them to see if they were legit, as I’ve had enough experience detecting scam calls.”
He revealed that he realized it was someone from OLG and not a scam because they didn’t ask him for any banking information.
So, he did what they told him to do and checked his account.
“That’s when I discovered I had a winning ticket, and it said I’d won $60 million. My hands and feet went numb.”
After the OLG representative shared the next steps with him, Mei had to join a virtual meeting for work.
“My feelings were all over the place,” he said.

Mei, who works in the software industry, logged off at the end of the workday and took a bit of time to fully grasp that he was about to become a multi-millionaire.
Then, he called his parents.
“I tried to be very calm when I told them I’d won a big prize. They wanted to make sure I wasn’t being tricked, but they know I’m always very cautious,” Mei revealed.
“When I told them the prize was $60 million, I reassured them they would never need to worry about money again. I told them they could retire and enjoy life.”
Later, Mei told a small group of close friends that he had won the Lotto 6/49 Gold Ball Jackpot.
“They were so excited for me and started jumping for joy. I’m not a super expressive person, but they were acting exactly how I was feeling inside,” he told OLG.
Mei already has plans for what he’s going to do with the $60 million, including a few things that are on his immediate bucket list.
“I love to learn, so I want to take advantage of various educational opportunities,” he said.
“I also want to explore different cultures, so that means plenty of travel. I really want to experience the aurora borealis as well.”
So, he’s considering trips to Finland and Iceland.
Mei wants to buy a new home in Toronto and take care of his parents.
“I can now change their lives along with my own. I can provide for them now and make so many things happen for all of us that were never possible before,” he told OLG.
Also, the 26-year-old said this win will probably make his friends buy lottery tickets now!
“Most of my friends don’t buy lottery tickets — I think I’m the only one. But now that this news is out, I think they’ll change their minds.”
