June “Mama June” Shannon revealed that her youngest daughter, Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, was in a terrifying car accident.
Shannon, 46, took to Instagram on Friday, September 26, to reveal the accident took place. In the video, Shannon explained that Thompson, 20, was T-boned by a 23-year-old man as she was pulling out of the driveway of her Denver, Colorado, home. “Alana is fine. She was hit on the driver’s side of her car. It could’ve been a lot worse,” she told the camera, adding that the driver admitted he was speeding.
Following the accident, Thompson was taken to the hospital. Shannon said that she’s currently experiencing “back pain” and “head ache issues.” She also shared that she was on her way to Denver to be with Thompson during her recovery. “Alana is at home and is resting,” she concluded.
In addition to the video, Shannon explained the situation in the post’s caption.
“Today is definitely been a crazy day since 3 o’clock. This is what I hate that Alana Thompson is 23 hours away, but she is following her dreams when you get that phone call and your stomach drops and all you can hear is someone hollering trust me I’ll do a story time about it tomorrow but she is at home. She is resting,” she wrote.
After noting that the accident “could’ve been a lot worse than it was,” Shannon said that Thompson “is banged up a little bit but other than that she is OK.”
“She was just going to go get her hair done and her phone call was to the police or second phone call was to her clinical director because tomorrow would’ve been her first day that she would’ve started clinicals and she still saying that she’s gonna get up in the morning and go we will see,” the TV personality wrote.

In addition to saying that she was heading to Denver to help Thompson get a rental car, she added that she wanted to make “sure that she is OK.”
While most of Thompson’s family lives in Georgia, she’s currently living in Denver as she studies pediatric nursing at Regis University.
Shortly after Shannon shared the news, several fans took to the comments section to wish Thompson well. “Prayers being said!!!” one person wrote, while another added, “So happy Alana is Ok. Sending prayers & blessings to her.”
