Egypt Sherrod and her husband Mike Jackson are addressing rumors that they were approached to go back on HGTV following the news that their show Married to Real Estate was cancelled.

TV Insider reported that Jackson and Sherrod said the rumors were false in an August 21 Instagram video.

“Let’s clear the air. There have been articles and rumors going around that we’ve been asked or invited back to HGTV. And I’ll say this: unless you hear it from us or we have our representation say it, it’s not true,” said Jackson in the clip.

Sherrod also said she came across several articles falsely reporting their return to HGTV.

“I was like, ‘Mike, look at this.’ It was, like, nine articles that actually had quotes from us about going back to HGTV. I’m like, ‘These are just flat-out lies,'” said Sherrod.

The couple did tell their social media followers that they are filming an unnamed project. They also said they will be the first to tell their fans about the upcoming project.

“FAKE NEWS: No we were not asked back despite the articles reporting and supposedly quoting us. No we are not on the brink of divorce despite the awful lies. Anything involving US, you will hear first and straight from US. Love you ❤️,” read the caption of the post.

Sherrod confirmed that Married to Real Estate didn’t get renewed for a fifth season in a June 2025 Instagram upload. In the post, Sherrod said she and her husband just came home to the United States after a vacation in the Mediterranean when they received the “unexpected news: HGTV has decided not to move forward with Married to Real Estate.”

She also said, “While the chain of events leading up to this is disheartening, we are deeply grateful.”

“Grateful for four incredible seasons. Grateful for our amazing crew and supportive fans. Grateful that our businesses continue to thrive. And most of all-grateful that we are still very much married to real estate (and to each other),” continued Sherrod in her Instagram post.

The caption of the post read, “Sometimes GOD will rip you out of a situation to set you up for your next!”

Several fans flocked to the post’s comments section to share their support.

“WHHHAATTTTTTTT?!!! My mouth dropped open from pure shock. It definitely couldn’t been from numbers because you guys are SO well loved by everyone. Your design and craftsmanship is unlike anything else on that network. This is pure insanity. But wherever you guys go next, you’ll have an army of people following right behind!! Your work speaks for itself. I can’t wait until we renovate our home so we can work with you guys,” wrote a commenter.

“Oh I’m really mad!! I just binged watched all 4 seasons waiting for the new season and now this!! You guys are such an inspiration to my fiancé and I. He does construction and I want to buy and flip homes!! Keep doing what you’re doing inspiring folks like us!!” added another.

“When I’m telling you I LOVED this show! I waited for each new season. So sad to see y’all go! But God’s blessings with you on your business and future endeavors!” shared a third person.

TV Insider reported that several other HGTV shows, like Bargain BlockIzzy Does It, and Farmhouse Fixer, were also not renewed for more seasons.
