Marriott International has finalized the acquisition of the citizenM brand, expanding its global portfolio with the addition of 37 hotels. The acquisition includes properties in the United States, Europe, and Asia Pacific, totaling 8,789 rooms. This move aligns with Marriott’s strategy to enhance its select-service offerings worldwide.

The citizenM brand, which currently operates 37 hotels, will add its existing properties to Marriott’s portfolio. Additionally, two more hotels, comprising over 300 rooms, are in the pipeline and will be integrated into Marriott’s system. The integration process is expected to be completed later this year, after which citizenM properties will be fully bookable through Marriott’s platforms.

Until the integration is finalized, citizenM hotels will remain available through their existing digital channels. Members of the citizenM subscription program will maintain their benefits during this transition period. Once integration is complete, citizenM will become a participating brand within the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program, providing additional benefits to members.

The acquisition of citizenM is part of Marriott’s broader strategy to grow its select-service lifestyle offerings. The company has previously expanded its portfolio with brands such as AC, Moxy, and Aloft. The addition of citizenM is expected to enhance Marriott’s ability to cater to travelers seeking technology-driven accommodations.

Marriott International, headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland, operates a wide range of properties across various brands and regions. The integration of citizenM is expected to further strengthen Marriott’s position in the global hospitality market, offering a diverse range of lodging options to its guests and loyalty program members.
