In Brief: Marriott International has expanded its African footprint with the launch of a new Four Points by Sheraton resort on the island of São Vicente in Cape Verde.

Marriott International has opened the Four Points by Sheraton São Vicente Resort, marking the company’s entry into Cape Verde and representing its 500th select service hotel in the Europe, Middle East & Africa region.

Marriott International has opened the Four Points by Sheraton São Vicente Resort in Cape Verde, marking the company’s first property in the country. The opening also represents Marriott’s 500th operating select-service hotel in the Europe, Middle East & Africa region and the first Four Points by Sheraton resort in Africa.

The Four Points by Sheraton São Vicente Resort is located above Laginha Beach in Mindelo, on the northern part of São Vicente Island. The property features 127 guestrooms and suites with wooden furniture, crafted light fixtures, decorative wall plates, and patterned cement tile flooring.

The resort’s interiors feature an art collection that includes paintings by Raya Salman and photographs by Joe Wuerfel. Select works by two Cape Verdean artists are also displayed at the property.

The property provides direct access to Laginha Beach via a skybridge on the first floor, which also features an infinity-edge pool and pool bar. The resort offers three dining venues: Bayview, serving food throughout the day; Ocean Lounge, a poolside venue; and the Skybar, scheduled to open and offering rooftop views.

Facilities at the resort include a conference center with three meeting rooms and additional multi-purpose event spaces, a fitness center with ocean and pool views, and a spa with four treatment rooms, a sauna, Turkish steam bath, and jacuzzi. The property also offers Four Points by Sheraton’s Best Brews program, featuring a local craft beer.
